About pharmacies

What does Sieť zdravia bring to patients and pharmacy customers?

The internet portal sietzdravia.sk cooperates with pharmacies and dispensaries of medical devices (hereinafter referred to as "pharmacies" or "pharmacy") that provide online services:

  • the posibility to check the availability of medicines and other products from the pharmacy product range, which is particularly useful for medicines that are currently out of stock on the market,
  • the possibility to reserve medicines and medical devices prescribed on electronic prescriptions,
  • the possibility to book over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, cosmetics, baby food, nappies and other pharmacy products (hereinafter referred to as "products"),
  • the possibility to search for and book appointments for pharmacy based screening and preventive tests.

  • You can shop on the portal sietzdravia.sk online at any time from the comfort of your home via your computer, tablet or mobile phone just like you would in an online shop.

Can I shop on Sieť zdravia as if I were shopping in an online shop?

The internet portal sietzdravia.sk is not an online shop.

Searching for items, adding them to your cart, and then being notified of the status of your order works very similarly to a regular online shop. However, your order is sent to the selected pharmacy via the portal sietzdravia.sk only as a reservation request, and the purchase itself takes place at the physical premises of the pharmacy.

What is a reservation?

A reservation is a non-binding order for medicines prescribed by your doctor on electronic prescriptions, other medicines, medical devices and other products from the pharmacy product range, or a non-binding booking of an appointment for a screening and preventive test.

What is a pharmacy based screening and preventive test?

It is a point-of-care test that focuses on the detection of potential diseases or their risk factors, and on the disease prevention. The testing includes counselling, measurements of health parameters and their evaluation, the pharmacist's recommendations, or if necessary, referral of the patient to the doctor for further diagnosis and treatment.

Can pharmacists carry out screening tests?

Yes they can. The pharmacy is a healthcare facility and as such it can provide screening and preventive testing for patients.

The testing is delivered by professionally qualified staff according to standard procedures approved by the Ministry of Health.

Who are the pharmacy based tests aimed for?

The tests are suitable for anyone who wants to take an active interest in their health. Many chronic diseases do not have obvious symptoms even at their more advanced stages, and by an early diagnosis more serious health problems can be prevented.

We therefore recommend that everyone should undergo screening and preventive tests at regular intervals, especially if:

  • you have a close family history of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, liver diseases, colon cancer, confirmed presence of Helicobacter pylori,
  • you are overweight or obese,
  • you suffer from an acute upper respiratory tract infection.

What tests do pharmacies provide?

Pharmacies provide point-of-care tests in the form of test packages or individual tests.

  • Respiratory infections
  • Blood drop tests
  • Fecal screening tests

How do I find out which pharmacies provide the tests?

On the portal sietzdravia.sk, you will find the “Tests at pharmacy” option on the left, next to the product categories. Clicking on this option will display a list of available tests and the number of pharmacies that provide them. After clicking on the number of pharmacies below a selected test and entering your location, the nearest pharmacies that provide this test will be displayed. After selecting a pharmacy, you will see all the tests that the selected pharmacy provides.

If there is a pharmacy that you prefer, you select it on the portal sietzdravia.sk and you will see the “Tests at pharmacy” option next to the product categories, it means that this pharmacy provides the service of point-of-care testing.

How do I book an appointment for a test?

Choose a test package or an individual test or tests at a selected pharmacy. Once you have selected the desired tests, pick an available appointment that suits you, and after entering your personal details and verifying your telephone number, send the reservation request to the pharmacy of your choice.

Are the pharmacy based tests covered by health insurance?

They are not yet covered. Each pharmacy determines whether and what tests they provide and what prices they charge. When selecting the tests, you will see the prices of the test packages as well as of the individual tests.

How does the search for a medicine work?

Type the name of the medicine you are searching for in the search box and select the medicine from the list, where you can see the picture, name, packaging and the information about the availability of the medicine. If the medicine is covered by health insurance, you will see the information about the full reimbursement of the medicine or the maximum patient's co-payment if the medicine is only partially covered by health insurance. After selecting a medicine from the list, you will see the information on how many pharmacies currently have the medicine in stock. Add the medicine to the cart and select the pharmacy where you wish to collect it. Next, proceed to the cart and submit your reservation, or continue to select other items you wish to purchase at the pharmacy.

What if the medicine cannot be found in any of the pharmacies or the pharmacy is too far away?

Sieť zdravia involves hundreds of pharmacies in Slovakia. However, such a situation can occur in the event of a long-term shortage of a medicine or medical device. On Sieť zdravia, you are able to find an alternative for almost every medicine, which is the same medicine in a packiging with a different quantity or an equally effective medicine from a different manufacturer. Please always consult your doctor or pharmacist about the possibility of using an alternative.

How do I know if the medicine I am looking for is available at the pharmacies of Sieť zdravia?

Each item, medicines included, that you can find on the portal sietzdravia.sk contains the information about their availability.

Available/In stock/24 hours - commonly available in stock or within 24 hours in any pharmacy.

Limited availability - not commonly available, the pharmacy will call you if there is a problem with availability.

Unavailable - not currently available at any pharmacy of Sieť zdravia. The item cannot be ordered. You can choose an alternative to the medicine or a similar product from the pharmacy product range. If you have already selected a pharmacy, then you can see the stock level at that particular pharmacy.

How do I make a reservation of medicines or other products?

Create a reservation by adding medicines and/or other products to your cart, just like in a regular online shop. Once submitted, the reservation is sent to the pharmacy which then sends you the information about the reservation being processed, and then the information that the items from the reservation are ready to be dispensed and you can collect them at the pharmacy.

What is a reservation of ePrescription?

Reservation of ePrescription is a request to reserve medicines or medical devices prescribed by your doctor on electronic prescriptions - ePrescriptions. Most doctors already prescribe electronically on ePrescriptions without a paper prescription.

To reserve medicines or medical devices on an ePrescription, the pharmacy just needs your birth identification number. You do not need to specify the individual medicines or medical devices.

How do I reserve ePrescriptions?

Type your birth identification number in the search box. You can also use the Reserve ePrescription option. The birth identification number will be added to the cart and you can continue to select other products from the pharmacy product range, such as probiotics, vitamins or cosmetics, and add them to the cart, or go straight on to select the pharmacy where you would like to collect the selected items.

Can I book ePrescriptions for multiple birth identification numbers at once?

No, you cannot. You can only send a reservation for one birth identification number at a time.

What if there are no ePrescriptions for my birth identification number?

In such a case, the pharmacy system will inform you of this fact by SMS or email. In practice, it sometimes happens that an ePrescription arrives at the pharmacy with a delay or does not arrive at all.

How do I know that my reservation request has been accepted by the pharmacy?

The pharmacy will notify you by email or SMS that your reservation request has been accepted.

How will I know when my application has been processed and when will I receive the reserved products?

The pharmacy will inform you about the processing of your request and the collection date by email or SMS. You will then collect the reserved medicines and other products directly at the pharmacy.

Should you have to wait more than 24 hours for the reserved medicine or should it happen that the medicine cannot be ordered at all, the pharmacy will contact you and explain the situation.

How long will the reserved products remain available for collection?

Products are reserved by the pharmacy until at least the end of the first business day following the day of the notification that they are ready for collection. You can collect them during the pharmacy's opening hours.

What do I need to collect the reserved products at the pharmacy?

You need to provide the reservation number or show the 2D barcode you have received in the email or SMS.

What if I am reserving medicines that require a prescription?

Prescription medicines and medical devices will only be dispensed by the pharmacy if you have a prescription from the doctor; paper or electronic.

The pharmacy's professional staff members will explain to you how to take your medication and provide you with other necessary information about the dispensed medicines and medical devices.

What are the payment options?

The payment for the reserved products takes place directly at the pharmacy where you collect them. You may choose to pay in cash and in most pharmacies also by card.

How can I cancel my reservation?

To cancel your reservation, you need to call the pharmacy you selected and provide the reservation number, or you can also do the cancellation in person at the pharmacy.

Can the pharmacy deliver the reserved products to my home address?

Personal delivery must always be arranged with the pharmacy. When sending your reservation request, you can inform the pharmacy about your preference for delivery in the comment section indicating the address for delivery. Prescription medication can only be dispensed to the patient by a pharmacy's professional staff member and, therefore, the delivery option is limited.

I need to provide my personal details to make a reservation. How is this data protected?

The data is sent to the pharmacy by encrypted communication and deleted from the portal sietzdravia.sk after your reservation has been accepted.

What will remain stored is your email address or telephone number for the purpose of providing further information about the status of your reservation.

If you have registered on the portal sietzdravia.sk, your data will remain stored in accordance with the terms and conditions you agreed to when registering.
